Help for my waffle maker
A few weeks ago someone posted a suggestion to use a waffle iron to cook eggplant. Thought it was a great idea but I have no idea how to clean my waffler. It can't be put into water and doesn't look as though it can be taken apart.
Any thoughts on cleaning it???
BTW eggplant is delicious!
Thanks

My rarely used waffle iron has removable/reversible plates... one side for waffles and the other for pressed sandwiches... panninis. Now that I think about it, NOT a sandwich press, but a pizzelle maker on other side. If your waffle iron doesn't have removable plate... I'd probably pass. BUT... there are always waffle irons in thrift stores... if ya find a clean one... might spend $2-3 to experiment.

re: kseiverd
I already made the eggplant. There's about 1/2" of cruddy breadcrumbs in every crevice of the waffle maker. I don't even know how to begin to clean it. I looked for the original post, thinking someone might have posted a remedy but I couldn't find it. My machine doesn't come apart. Any cleaning suggestions would be welcome

re: happenings
Well, it's too late now for the usual cleaning method, which is putting a few layers of damp paper towels on the iron while it's still hot to steam off the gunk. The problem now is going to be how to get out the gunk without damaging the finish of the iron. I think I'd try soaking a dishrag in hot water, put it on the iron, close the lid and let it soak for a few minutes, then wipe off as much as you can and then go after the rest with maybe paper towels and lots of patience.
