Root Beer?

tdombrow Aug 30, 2012 02:49 AM

I know this is a long shot, but I figure if anyone can answer this question, it's my fellow hounders.

I'm doing a special even at work and we're going to be serving root beer floats. I was wondering if any knew of a brewery in the Austin area or the Hill country that also brews their own root beer.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

How much do you need? You can find Maine Root Root Beer (made in Austin) in bottles pretty easily. http://maineroot.com/sodas/root-beer/

I'm pretty sure Specs carries, or could get, kegs of St Arnold (Houston) and Abita (Louisiana) Root Beers as well, if you wanted more.

Thanks for the tip. I need enough to feed roughly 200 employees, so maybe going to spec's would be a good idea. Thanks again.

I had looked this up earlier and couldn't find anything local (my brain was stuck on finding something actually brewed local), but now that you mention Maine, House Pizza has it on draft so maybe they can help at least help point you to where they get theirs.

Doesn't Alamo brew their own root beer? Coulda sworn...

Just checked on their website. I thought the same thing, but they serve St. Arnold, which I'm not a fan of, but I'll keep looking. Thanks again ya'll.
