Wedding In GTA.. Need help!!!
I am looking for a wedding venue in the GTA - I'll do anything from Toronto to Niagara Falls (including Niagara-on-the-lake) but I have a few criteria that absolutely have to be met. Firstly, it needs to hold 250 people, secondly, the food needs to be very delicious, thirdly, I don't want a generic looking hall (I would do a hall if its very different looking / not completely windowless) and last but not least I don't want to spend more than $200 TOPS per person (would prefer more in the $175ish range).
Any suggestions? I am open to doing places with full service (food, catering rentals all included), or to go separately for those items if need be.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
There are lots of great venues in Toronto. I was married at the Palais Royale, which was absolutely beautiful. The venue has history, it's on the waterfront and there wasn't any other event but our wedding taking place. I would also suggest you looking at the Distillery District - the Fermenting Cellar is a really great space. And of course there is also the Windsor Arms hotel, but that can be a bit expensive as they do not have packages for the bar - everything is based on consumption.
I don't know what your timelines are for your wedding, but the venues I've mentioned above unfortunately need to be booked about 12 months ahead (but I would still check and see if they have any cancellations).
Good luck with the planning - I hope you have a great day.
Thanks for the suggestions - I've checked out all 3 but the Distillery is too expensive (I was quoted $250 pp not including taxes and gratuities) and if the Windsor Arms is more than that I probably have to cross it off the list too. Waiting to hear back from Palais Royale - how was the food there? I've read mixed reviews online.
The food I've had at the Palais Royale is ok at best.
For 250 people, closer to $125-$170/person, you might want to visit Paramount in Woodbridge, ask to sample what they would offer as part of the antipasto option (risotto stations, freshly fried calamari, mini saganaki, grilled lamb chops, etc), and stick to the Greek and Italian mains. Their Greek and Italian main course options are tastier than their WASPier main course options. The food at Paramount is better than the food I've had at the Palais Royale and Liberty Grande.
Not sure if you might be able to do one of the more basic packages at the Carlu or the Royal Ontario Museum, for $200/person. The spaces are very nice and their caterers are very good, but most weddings probably cost closer to $220-$250/person.
Keep in mind some event spaces/halls offer a 10-15 percent discount if you book their spaces for a Friday, a Sunday and/or during the low season (Nov-April).
