Any info on Zaleks?
I'm so sad to see that Zaleks closed. I had been working a job with late hours so i havent been in a few weeks so I didnt know they were closing until i couldnt reach them this week, and then drove over. The sign says they wanted more family time, which they so deserve cuz they work amazingly hard...Does anyone know any more about it? eg was it unexpected, are they doing ok etc? Hope they get to enjoy some good family time, but Zaleks will be really missed!!

Chompie, the last time I was there it was about a year ago. My friends and I used to frequent Zalek's alot. But, the last few times I was there, the service was even slower than usual. I've known Peter just from the restaurant and have met his wife there as well. I was a huge fan of theirs, but not only had the service gotten slower, the food went downhill as well. He had another chef/cook with him in the kitchen the last night I was there. My baked scallops were dry and overcooked. I decided to go elsewhere after that. "Nice" can only go so far, the food was no longer as great as it had been. I had hoped they would bounce back. But, the economy is still tough out there.

It looks like a new owner will be taking over the space, opening a spot with a new design and concept. My guess is, it'll have a different name as well, but we'll see...

i knew i would get you both to show up here.. So noone was there recently and heard anything from Peter? Were either of you there recently enough to know if this was sudden? I am thinking of emailing them at their website to see if theres any more info or if Peter will be cooking anywhere else, if noone here knows anything more than what we know so far.. Theres no place else to get their flavors at all.. I was actually going to ask him if they wanted to do a fall deliver service with me and hubby delivering..
