Most authentic Taiwanese resto in the SGV closing down

You've heard me talk about it -- it's called Happy Garden.

The chef and owner is burnt out and has put in an advertisement in the Chinese newspaper to sell the place.

It's been around since '95. Impressive for SGV restaurant standards. Try it before it shutters!

Recs: cold goose, intestines, oyster pancake, tempura (taiwanese-style), clam and chicken soup, their fried rice, fried vermicelli.

I actually think the most authentic Taiwanese restaurant in SGV is either Old Country Cafe Nice Time Cafe.

Happy Garden is in Valley Square, the plaza next to the 168 Plaza. Valley Supermarket is at the back and several restaurants along the east side (Happy Garden, a hot pot place, a Shanghainese restaurant).

Oh that's what I meant, guess I should have been specific but I don't know the plazas by name only memory since I live in the area but can't be bothered to read the signs.

LOL...no need to apologize, I understand completely. Hard to sort them all out, and I know I'm not alone (I keep trying to explain Prospect Plaza vs. Hilton Plaza). Plus, there are plazas that are "sort of" connected, but not really. It gets confusing.

At least they're not going straight to closing down. Here's to hoping a passionate Taiwanese chef or restaurateur buys the place. Maybe the owner of one of the other revered Taiwanese restaurants...
