Chinese before Theater

Need a recommendation for a good Chinese spot on a Saturday night before seeing a show. I was thinking Lan Sheng, but they don't take reservations for 2 people and I'm worried about getting in without one.

Any other recommendations?

You shouldn't have a problem getting into Lan Sheng especially if you show up at 6:00 - 6:30. A few weeks ago I showed up at 7:00 on a Saturday night and there were 3 or 4 open tables.

Szechuan Gourmet is a good choice as well but I'd give the edge to Lan Sheng.

If you are willing to go East to Lex, Hunan Manor is much more interesting and exciting than any places mentioned in thread

I like Dong Chun Hong on the corner of 32nd street and 5th ave. Clean and nice decor. It's not a traditional Chinese restaurant. It's more like Chinese fusion. I saw a poster saying they would have labor day course menu this weekend. figured you might be interested in checking it out.

Szechuan Gourmet? I believe they take reservations for 2.

While I don't love Lan Sheng, you won't need a reservation for pre-theater. It's not that crowded there.

Szechuan Gourmet on W. 39th or W. 56th would be my choices for Sichuan food. I don't think you'll need any reservations if you're dining before 6:30 pm.
