Fox Theatre show - where to eat before?

Coming to Atlanta for a show at the Fox, staying nearby, and would like a recommendation for dinner before. The Livingston looks good because it's across the street, but I can't tell if it's worth the high price or not.

  1. I'm not so sure about The Livingston, but we ate at Proof & Provision a few weeks back. Good, not-too-expensive gastropub-grub. The bartenders even have the requisite pre-Prohibition hipster uniform. My only gripe about the food was that the one sandwich we got was pretty well soaked in butter before grilling. There's also The Lawrence and The Spence not too far away. Or Papi's for Cuban. Or Top Flr. Etc.

Baraondi is terrific. My experience with livingston not so good.

    2. Livingston is awful. Avoid.

Baraonda is fine, not exemplary but fine.

I would personally go to Empire State South or 4th & Swift and then drive the 5 minutes or so it takes to get from them to the Fox and park. Much better food for all concerned.

i agree with samlev on Liv actually l eft a mediocre review on Trip Advisor (TA) forum. No doubdt ESS is better food, but we didnt want the parking hassle, so ate at Baraondi because you can park in their lot and just walk to Fox--its a block away.Id say half the folks get pizza, which is delicious--we sometimes get a real Italian meal, like parmigiana--its not NY Italian but pretty good for Atlanta

      2. Thanks everyone for the good advice. Will avoid the Livingston, and made a reservation at Baraonda.
