beef stew

I just want to know where I can find a soothing and delicious bowl of beef stew in the West LA area. Any recommendations? I'd cook the stew myself, but I'm leaving town on Tuesday and it's just for me. Thanks.

Though not quite as good as it was in the days when the dish was served at her original restaurant, Gillialand's.

Warszawa has a very interesting type of beef stew (that also includes a Polish sausage as part of the dish) called Bigos (termed a "Hunter's Stew"): http://www.warszawarestaurant.com/

Yes! It is terrific--had it just a few weeks ago despite the warm weather.

      2. You didn't specify what type of beef stew but Chix on Pico served an excellent, classic Beef Bourguignon with mash. No veg in sight but you can get one as a side. http://www.yelp.com/biz/chic-wine-bar...

A little far from West LA for the OP.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but I love the beef stew they sometimes serve in the Gelson's hot service deli. I doubt they would have it at this time of year though.

            2. Lemonade on Abbot Kinney. Their soundstage leaves a lot to be desired (it's super-echoey in there), and their salads are never as good as they look (though still pretty good). But for my money, Lemonade has some fantastic stews. I've tried the the brisket, stroganoff, and short rib stew, and they're all damned good.
