The Marine Room
I posted a message on a very old Marine Room thread that was on our California Board in 2007, so I am starting a new one.
The last time I ate at the MR was in 1990 or 91. I just glanced at the menu and it did not look too bad. Has anyone been lately? I realize MR is a bit of an eighties stronghold, but I am willing to be glass half full and openminded. Is my optimism warranted or should I throw it out with the pink taffeta?
We are trying to decide on a 5 year Anniversary dinner location. (The other options are Addison and TBL3, along with a smattering of places in LA).

I think your other choices sound much more promising. I had not been to the MR for several years, so we decided to stop in a couple of weeks ago for drinks and apps. The venue seemed so dated and the flavor compositions really didn't work well (ancho chile dip completely overwhelmed delicate avocado fritters). Just my 2 cents.
