Penang, Malaysia - Last Bowl of Hokkien Noodles from Hwa Pin Coffeeshop

Read in the Star Malaysia today that the famous Hokkien mee stall in Hwa Pin coffeeshop on Church Street will shut down as the chef, Loo Chin Wah, is hanging up his pots & pans after 54 years in the business.

How sad - another old Penang hawker master calls it a day. Post-retirement, Loo and his wife will be visiting their children who reside in New York.

Well, I guess we take some things for granted and don't miss them until they are gone. I have never tried Hwa Pin's Hokkien mee. My personal favourite is the one on Dato Keramat Road - only opens in the morning.
