Pizzeria da Nella or Spacca Napoli?
I usually go to Spacca Napoli when I visit Chicago and I am usually quite pleased with the pizza but I am thinking about going to Pizzeria da Nella. I started going to Spacca after Nella was gone. Was Spacca really better when she was there? What are the differences between Pizzeria da Nella and Spacca and which one currently is making the best pizza? Should I try Pizzeria da Nella or stick with Spacca?

I, too, am a fan of SN, but I've been once to Nella, and was a bit underwhelmed by the Bufala (not enough bufala on the pizza to compete with the somewhat overwhelming tomato sauce). I certainly intend to go back and try other pizzas, and their other offerings, but if I had only one pizza meal in Chicago, I would stick with SN. (I also find the atmosphere at SN to be very pleasant--altho I usually go on off-hours--and the appetizers, salads, etc. are of good quality. I could detect no deterioration in quality post-Nella.) On the other hand Nella does have a pleasant patio. By the way, if you're also fond of East-Coast style pizza you might want to give Coalfire a shot.
