Los Angeles Food Itinerary REVIEWED
After coming back yesterday from a culinary delight in Los Angeles, I couldn't help but think I couldnt have done it without you chowhounders.
Dinner at Bouchon- After arriving on a plane a few hours earlier we didn't look so good, and was a little embarrassing at a place like this, but the food made us forget all about it. The bread to start out was just amazing and, was heavenly when dipped in the mussels broth. I had steak and french fries which was very good, but will probably order something else next time. But after trying my companions mussels I was sold on this place but I didn't know what was yet to come. To end we had the profiteroles , which was actually the first time we had had them, and they are so DIVINE, with hot fudge sauce, puff pastry and vanilla ice cream!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Day 2 (We switched the lunches of this and the next day because of changed plans)
Lunch at The Grill on The Alley-I have never had a better salad in my life! The steak salad with onion rings and creamy bleu cheese dressing was simply excellent! I posted a picture to show what the salad looks like
Dinner at Frida Beverly Hills- This was the only disappointment on our list. The Drinks and shrimp fajitas were the only thing that was good, but the other food was pretty mediocre.
Lunch at Pizzeria Mozza- This was our best cheap sit down restaurant of the trip, the tricolre? salad was so good, and the meat lovers pizza was out of this world and just the right amount of food for us. The Anchovy dressing was very light but refreashing and the bacon, sausage, and canadian bacon made me think I was going to have a heart attack but it was so good
Dinner at Dan Tana's- I know what you are thinking, two italian restaurants in one day, but both are very different. The atmosphere in this place is so amazing, and feels like it has been here along time (about 47 years), and our server was very good as well. I feel that it would become more interesting as the night wore on. Food wise we both ordered the sautéed white fish, which was frankly a bit overpriced, but the tarimisu? at the end was divine.
Lunch at The Garden Terrace Café (At the Getty Center)- Nothing much to write home about, but its a museum for a cheap price what do you expect.
Dinner at The Carbon Beach Club (Switched to this from Malibu Seafood)- To start off we were sitted at the edge of the deck with sweeping views of the pacific ocean, it was breathtaking and that was even before the food. We ordered the Asian Chicken Salad and Lobster Club to share, which was more than enough food for us. The Asian Chicken salad was nice and light but pretty average, but the lobster club more than made up for it. It was almost all lobster (Nice Value!), with arugula and bacon on the top and bottom of it, HEAVENLY. Then to end the perfect meal we had the lava cake with blood orange sorbet, very nice as well. This meal was tied for 1st place as my favorite of the trip.
Lunch at The Ivy- This was all around my favorite place we went to. We sat out on the outdoor patio overlooking Robertson Blvd, and we were all set up for an excellent meal. I ordered the lobster risotto, and my companion ordered the grilled vegetable salad with salmon, both perfect entrées and my portion could feed a family. The servers were very helpful always filling up are water glasses and asking if we need anything. We ended the meal with a delightful red velvet cake with an unconventional pink frosting. Relatively pricey but much more worth it than Dan Tana's.
Dinner at Matsuhisa- Basically the same as Nobu (to us), and the black cod with miso was somewhat overpriced but excellent just like nobu, but the spicy tuna rolls were very good too.
Lunch at Langer's Deli- We just did a curbside pick up as we were in a hurry, but would love to sit inside. This was our favorite cheap restaurant, but after reading some reviews we found out that the #19 is must try next time we go there, we had the hot pastrami with mustard on rye and the best potato salad I have ever had. The rye bread was so DIVINE, soft in the center and crunchy on the outside, with thick cuts of pastrami! We are definitely coming back here next time
Overall a great group of restaurants all thanks to you guys
