Looking for great free-range fried chicken /organic hamburgers in Montreal

Hello-
I'm new to Montreal, from New York City, and plead guilty to missing American-style diner food that involves less cruelty to animals (like Birdy's, Bareburger, and that Pie place in Brooklyn).

There's no shortage of great places to eat here, but are there restaurants that serve free-range fried chicken, etc? What/where would they be?

Thanks!

Quebecois culture is not big on things like environmentalism, vegetarianism, locally sourced food, etc. It's not part of the joie de vivre way of life, so finding free-range and locally sourced meat in restaurants is going to be a challenge. I can't think of a single restaurant that serves organic meat, though I know La Salle a Manger in the Plateau and Le Comptoir Charcuterie et Vins in the Mile End have a seasonal ingredients focus, though I never seen anything in their menus deemed organic. Better luck buying your own meats or trying a vegetarian restaurant. Despite Montreal being so (non-organic) meat focused, Aux Vivres is a great veg restaurant, and La Paryse has some great veg and meat burgers.

Than you, Looosia. I suspected as much! I know that Omnivore serves organic meat, but I've yet to find another restaurant that does.

We've been to Aux Vivres, and it was a nice detox experience for me, and I loved the red chairs.

"I can't think of a single restaurant that serves organic meat". Really? Because a lot of them do and they usually leverage it by refering to the meat's provenance in the menu.

For example, the first thing I did was look at 400 Coup's menu online (IMHO currently tops in fine dining in MTL) and they have organic suckling pig (Ferme Gaspor).

Thelonius, I see what you're saying. Merci!
