saturday lunch/brunch challenge

My family (two ex-New Yorkers, four current New Yorkers, and two lifelong Bostonians) are convening in New York in a few weeks. It's a reunion of sorts, and a few people have never met before, so somewhere fairly quiet would be great. That said, I'd prefer somewhere more fun than stuffy.

Some parameters:

--The out-of-towners are staying in midtown -- two in the W 40s, and two in the E 40s. So, we'd consider either side of town, from about 14th street - 70th street.
--Lunch or brunch is fine, and hopefully American, Italian, Mexican, or Mediterranean-type food. One person is an extremely picky eater, so nothing too adventurous.
--I'd love somewhere nice / festive but affordable, as I'm sure my parents will insist on paying. Looking for entrees in the $15-$25 range.
--Some ideas I've had are The Smith, Red Cat, The Breslin, and ABC Kitchen, to give you an idea of our tastes.

Thanks!

The Smith in the EV is going to be super loud. Haven't been to the Midtown one.

The Breslin doesn't take reservations, not sure how long a wait for eight would be.

ABC Kitchen would probably work well. It's fairly busy, though, so make a reservation.

      Thanks for the insight!

Has anyone ever been to Inside Park at St. Barts? I've walked by it a bunch of times, but haven't really heard much abut it. Is The National a better idea?
