Savory Plate Arlington - Savory Food, Sour Service
Savory Plate in Arlington Heights has become a Swank family staple for last-minute meals. They serve a variety of flash-frozen meat pies, lasagne, enchiladas, pasta dishes, soups, and sandwiches, as well as tuna, chicken, and shrimp salad. They're also BYOB.
The food is tasty -- we've enjoyed their meat pies and their sandies -- but the service is so off-putting as to make me really feel hesitant each time I walk in. Once, I asked an employee which condiments came with a particular sandwich and she barked, "YOU TELL ME!" Um, did I ask a trick question? Nine times out of ten, a customer walks through the door and the counter staff scowls. It's very odd, and gives the whole place a tired, angry vibe.
Too bad, since it's just the concept Arlington needs!!

We were gifted with some frozen foods from Savory Plate and quite liked them. Chicken enchiladas and veggie stuffed shells. I thought the price was a little steep (it was on the sticker on the container, no real way for the gift-giver to remove it) but then I don't often buy premade meals so I don't have much with which to compare. Neverthreless, the food was indeed tasty and much, much better than something frozen from the grocery store!
