Best Har Gow in Chinatown?

  • 8

Meeting a friend for lunch in Chinatown tomorrow...She is craving har gow. We've been to Shanghai Cafe, New Green Bo, and Nom Wah and we'd love to try someplace else. Anyone have a favorite for har gow? It needs to be in Chinatown b/c that's as far away from the office as I can get at lunch time. Thanks!

    1. Dim Sum Go Go or Red Egg?

Oriental garden has some good dim sum, but their har gow isn't my favorite. They have a pan fried shrimp/chive dumpling that tickles me in ways that shouldn't be legal.

        2. Hop Shing or Golden Unicorn. Definitely not Jing Fong

          1. Thanks so much, everyone! We ended up going to Oriental Garden. Solid dim sum; would go back.

If you go back I should mention that their non-dim sum dishes are very good also. I loved their clams with black bean sauce, very delicious stuff!

            2. 27 Sunshine, or whatever its name is, that used to be HSF, on Bowery just south of Canal on the south side of the arcade. Really, really good: nice nutty kind of flavor to the wrapper enfolding a whole and perfect shrimp.
