Rocky's Pizza in ShopRite Derby CT

javaandjazz Aug 20, 2012 10:19 AM

I happened to be in ShopRite of Derby, CT this morning and noticed they have a new pizza shop in the back by the sushi guy. Called Rocky's pizza. Is this a real pizza place or something just put in by ShopRite and is it any good? Thanks.

Anyone ever hear of Sparky's (?) or Scrappy's (?) Pizza in Derby? Met a guy who owned Dino Andino's (I think that was the name) Pizza and sold his old seasoned oven to these guys. Said the pizza was flat out awesome when he visited to check his old oven out.

    Anyone?

If it was put in by ShopRite, it'd be Scrunchy's Pizza, now wouldn't it? ;P

Katty, Only three problems with that.
#1 It's not crunchy, but soft and doughy
#2 It's not Kosher (see the U in a circle symbol)
#3 It's not Pareve (neither meat nor dairy)

        AND NUMBER FOUR---it's not good

LOLOL, poor Scrunchy can't catch a break! ;) The Kosher part was for Scrunchy animal cookies, which they may not even make anymore. Perhaps the poor ol' bear has retired--there's only one Stop & Shop remotely near me and I've yet to go. Now it's a challenge: find Scrunchy! You do make me laugh, however! And I believe all four of your points above!

Don't know if they are still using the Scrunchy Label, But The U-O is still supervising Shop-Rite animal cookies, but they are now dairy.

BTW, I think you meant to type there is only one Shop-Rite remotely near you, somehow with all the Stop and Sops in CT I think you are close to more than one.

OOPS, you're right, my mistake: ShopRite is in G'bury now (or on the East Hartford line, Putnam Bridge Plaza, close enough). I am SURROUNDED by Stop & Shops--they've apparently taken over my brain! :|

I go to that one a couple of times a week. Helps that there's a Nathan's right there, too, for a quick bite.

Is it any good? NO It's doughy with a bland uninspiring sauce and too much poor quality cheese.
My wife's best friend works in that Shop-Rite and when I speak to her next I'll ask if it is a concession. I tried it this past weekend when we were in the store and would not eat it again.
