Seeking good Mexican food near Shakopee

justalex Aug 20, 2012 09:27 AM

My husband and I are taking the kiddo and friend to Valley Fair this evening. After we drop them off I'd like to fulfill my craving for good, authentic Mexican food, preferably with a Margarita included.

I'm hoping for something with food comparable to Los Ocampo. Any ideas fellow CH'rs? I'm not familiar with the area at all. Thanks in advance!

I recently ventured across Taqueria El Ranchito. It's in Richfield, which is a lot closer to Shakopee than my usual stomping grounds. Hole in the wall, no frills, great food. Doubt a margarita is available. Not a lot of Yelp reviews, but all of them are 4 and 5 stars.

Otherwise, google map Valley Fair and then "search nearby" for Mexican. There are a few options you can then look up reviews for.

Thanks! I've come across El Toro, Taco Loco and Pablo's. El Toro looks to have the best reviews. Might have to give them a shot.

Without question, Taco Loco is the best, and most authentic. Not much atmosphere. And they do not serve alcohol.

El Toro is alright, a little more American. Pablo's is very American.

Thank you galewskj. That is the type of info I needed. Our outing has been delayed until Wednesday. After an hour in the car with loud teenagers, I think I will want a cocktail and relax for awhile, so El Toro it is. Sometimes alright is just right.
