Maltose or Maltodextrin Source?

Does any place in Austin sell maltose syrup or powder, or maltodextrin (powder, I assume). Austin Home Brew does not list it on their site and I would prefer a grocery store type place closer to home anyway. People's RX mentions it on their website, but it sounds like some sort of fancy pharmaceutical grade stuff. Anybody sell ti in the bulk sections, maybe?

I realized after I posted that it is used in Asian baked goods. I thought I knew MT Supermarket good enough to conduct tours for yankees and gringos, but if I ever saw that there I would have just blown it off mentally since it's not really food ;-) (and it's not savory). I will check there next week :-)

If you have friends who work in (well, some) restaurants, it's pretty easy to get. The restaurant I work at goes through a ton; if you can't find it, I'd be happy to help.

What is it used for in restaurants? Maltose, I assume. I willing to try maltodextrin for my purposes as well (which still remains a mystery until I try my theory one more time).
