Mont St. Michel
We're doing a day trip to Mont St. Michel in September, driving there from Orval where we are staying for 3 nights visiting the Normandy beaches and surrounding area. In the past I've noted no positive recommendations for a lunch ,e.g. a souffle, in Mont St. Michel, is that still the case? Any lunch options in the surrounding area?

last time we were there, we just bought ham and cheese baguettes and ate them sitting on the wall overlooking the bay. Not great, but respectable, with fresh lettuce and tomatoes, and a little pricey, but not horrible.
It was lunch -- and wasn't a lowest-common-denominator, highest-possible-price disaster in a hot, crowded restaurant.

Quite near Orval (15 minute drive toward Mont St Michel) is the very nice ferme-auberge Le Manoir de Guelle.

It's a farm that runs a restaurant only over the weekend. The beef, lamb and poultry come from the farm. We have had excellent foie gras there,a nd have bought meat - imagine the freshness - from the farm. -

Note Crêperie La Sirèn for decent and reasonable crepes and cider.
