Long Grain, Camden
Stumbled upon this article from the NY Times. http://travel.nytimes.com/2012/08/12/... With few exceptions (i.e. MidCoastMaineiac) this restaurant gets little mention on this board. Maybe it’s because most people asking are looking for high end or fried seafood? It’s definitely on my “must” list for my next trip to the midcoast.
Thanks for the article. I originally discovered Long Grain from a post on this board. We dined there last September on our vacation and it was by far the best meal of the trip. We are back in Maine this week and called a week in advance for a reservation for next Tuesday. The only opening they had was for 6PM - we took it. I have to remeber to save room for that coconut flan.
Yes, it is that good. We ate there recently because my daughter wanted the noodles after we happened to walk by a night or two earlier. We had no idea that it was what it is. The noodles are the best Thai noodles I've eaten. Incredible texture. I wish there were more Thai places like this with ingredients of this quality and variation from the Thai restaurant norms. These are the best surprises -- the unexpected in unlikely places.
