Calling Coll! Where was that orchard?

Coll mentioned a peach orchard on the North Fork a while back, and I can no longer find it. I would be very interested to try it as an alternative to Wickhams. Could you post the name and the location, please?

  1. I presume it's Davis Peach farm:

It is. Here is Coll's post: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/8607...

    2. Thank you both, but sadly, it is not going to be convenient for our trip :(. I thought it was in Mattituck somehow...

Woodside Farms orchard is on Manor Lane in Jamesport, about 4 miles & 8 minutes west of Love Lane Kitchen in Mattituck. They also have a roadside stand on 25 in Aquebogue...

Aren't they apple-only, opening in September? I passed them by last week and they looked closed.

The stand on 25 is usually open in apple season. I believe Manor Lane is open for peaches but I haven't been there yet this year.

I have gotten apples from them in the past, and was disappointed...

        2. Sorry I missed this! Yeah Davis, I was there yesterday. Got a load of sugar plums and a bigger load of peaches; I just found the best recipe for Peach Amaretto jam and that may be my main Christmas presents this year, the way things are going. But they don't have much beyond the stone fruits, unlike previous years.

And are the peaches wonderful? How far west of , say, Briermere are they?

            1. re: roxlet

They are basically in Wading River. Off Sound Ave, I'd say 15 minutes before Briermere (you have to make a left turn at the light for Wildwood State Park). Yes their peaches are the best, despite the old fashoned site. I go out of my way, if you can call it that!
