Wow, Parks BBQ sister restaurants close. Yes, both of them (LaOn/DDG). Raku Izakaya also down.

LaOn AND Don Dae Gam have shuttered O_O

Never managed to hit up LaOn after a nice Gold Standard meal; didn't love DDG either. AYCE KBBQ taking ova.

Raku Izakaya in DTLA also down for the count. Last days end of this month.

credit goes to a site that rhymes with beater.

While it is indeed sad, I am still surprised that so many Korean BBQ places are still extant.

Either people *really* like Korean BBQ, or the margins are incomprehensibly low.

Sad to hear, especially about Raku Plus...

Not a good day for you, Clyde, with Jeon Ju apparently gone (http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/863655, for reference for others, not you since you already commented on that thread).

I almost went to LaOn but opted for DDG one night. Not super-impressed, disappointed when I ordered the pork neck that it was not the fatty slivers that I was expecting and had always gotten at other KBBQ restaurants. I guess I had to shell out extra for the "Special" pork neck on their menu.

Yah, i didn't see that one coming. I heard from a friend last week that the new AYCE place, Kogi King LA, is good. I personally don't like AYCE korean bbq places so not thrilled at all, esp when there's a surplus of AYCE bbq spots. I've been to both DonDaeGam and LaOn - wasn't impressed with either. Perhaps her new resto in dtla, oleego, that's slated to open in the fall will fare better.
