Alternative Wedding Caterers

Does anyone have any experience using a non-traditional caterer like a food truck or restaurant that handles off-site catering for a wedding?

I saw that Dat Dog and Boucherie (two totally delicious New Orleans restaurants) do catering. I'm waiting on receiving their menus, but I'm curious if anyone has any experience, reviews or suggestions.

  1. You know I have been thinking about this. Have you considered having a seafood boil? I have always viewed seafood boils (crab, shrimp or crawfish) boils as more of a social event. That might be fun. Beer under a pavillion with fans and just good Louisiana seafood to eat. Does it get any better. Yeah being there with the person you just married!!

      Thank you for your suggestion! I love the idea of a relaxed, outdoor reception with fans and fresh Louisiana seafood.

      A boil would make for a wonderful rehearsal dinner or pre-wedding event, however I'm from land-locked Pennsylvania and many of our guests don't eat seafood (gasssp!). Also, many venues, especially those in the French Quarter, do not allow boils as they can be a bit messy.

      So I'm still in search of an affordable, unique, and distinctly New Orleans catering option for our reception. If you have any other ideas I'd love to hear them :)
