Hopjacks Pizza and Taproom - Pensacola
My GF and I were down from Boston last week visiting her family and after stopping at Joe Patti to pick up some seafood for dinner we stopped at Hopjacks for some pizza and beer for lunch. With a beer list of over 100 drafts and 100 bottles I stuck to Florida or Southern beers and sadly don't recall anything that I had however all were pretty good. For lunch we started with the Belgian fries and they were perfect: crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside, salty and hot. My GF and I shared the Cajun Crawfish pizza which had crawfish, green onions, corn, garlic on a white sauce and was very tasty. Others in the group orderd the Butcher Block (bacon, filet mignon, and pepporoni) and the roasted duck pizza (duck, artichokes and mushrooms) and both of those were outstanding as well. My GF's mother ordered a half order of the chef salad and it was huge; easily enough for one person for their meal. The atomosphere leans towards nightclub or music venue (they do have live bands I believe) so you might not think that the food would shine but the pizza and fries were some of the best I have had recently. Service also was very good; I guess their computer system was down which the manager apologized for at the start however service never missed a beat and was friendly and professional. I look forward to going back the next time I'm in town.
