Morinoya on Sawtelle

I had another great dinner at Morinoya last night. Started with stamina natto (bowl of fermented soy beans, albacore, and japanese pickles), nasu miso (eggplant with miso sauce) asparagus wrapped beef in a "sweet sauce" which isn't really sweet at all, chawan mushi with uni, chicken meatballs on a skewer, two large hot sake's and the grand total was $48 without tip. The menu is extensive, I've had lots of other stuff, all good and all reasonably priced. The service is excellent, the place is a little hard to find, it's in the Olympic Collection building on the corner of Olympic and Sawtelle. Morinoya was Place Yuu before it moved to this location. Also open for lunch.

Morinoya is great! I enjoy dining there!

Sounds like a winner. Is it along Sawtelle by Kiriko or up in the main building fronting onto Olympic? J.L. will be happy about this as he was always a big proponent of Place Yuu.

It's in the main building on the second floor.

I really enjoyed my late night snack at Morinoya: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/845618

Of course, J.L. had a more epic meal there already: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/843908

Just realized I haven't been back. Every time I'm over there, I'm going for Kiriko. Must revisit Morinoya!

Well, if I knew nothing else, I knew J.L. would be (was) happy about Morinoya! ;-D> (at least I hadn't actually commented on that thread or this would have rated a "Doh!" for sure...)
