Baltimore novice looking for a restaurant

We're planning a day trip to Baltimore on Friday from DC and I'm looking for a restaurant for an early dinner near the Inner Harbor that's kid friendly and shows off some of Baltimore's charm - preferably seafood, southern or ethnic and in the mid-priced to cheap range. (When I say kid friendly I don't mean that they have to have chicken nuggets on the menu, just that kids are welcome) Thanks in advance for your help.

Heya, I am brand new to Baltimore from CA and have had two great meals at Thames Street Oyster House. Great service, crabcakes, and right on the water in Fells point.

I second going over to Fells Point. Take the water taxi. For a couple of bucks you get a 20 minutes or so ride on the water, and you get to see Charm City from a different perspective.

The Inner Harbor joints are all chains. With that being sai,' M&S grilled has always been very welcoming to my girls (age 5&7) and does a real Mac and cheese that I always hope they will not finish so I can eat some.

If you go to Fells Point, get Pitango gelato.
