On our travels through CA we came across a bakery in Sacramento. it's called Brioche Artisan Bakery, it's on Florin right off the 5 behind the Bel Aire market. It's a new bakery so they don't have that much selection, but their cakes look delicious. We just got some pastries and went on our merry way. I would have bought one, but it's just the wife the kid and me so we couldn't have eaten a whole cake (well we could have, but that's sheer gluttony). Do the Sacramento hounds know about this place? Any opinions on their cakes?

I had the pecan puff pastry thing and the apricot danish. Good stuff, nice and flaky with the right amount of sweetness. the missus had the scone which she said is just how she likes them, not too sweet and it doesn't have the annoying glaze that some places have.

I heard of Brioche bakery through this board and had to visit. I think they far and away beat Freeport. Freeport has beautifully done product, but there isn't the 'punch' of taste that makes them stand out. Brioche's snickerdoodles are wonderfully crunchy on the edges and the middle melts. You don't have to chew. My son had their Chocolate Mudslide and begged for more. The day I was there they had a new brioche that had the cream cheese filling used in danish but topped with sour cherries. It had just the right balance of sour and sweet. I'm trying their cakes next. The bread guy recommended a strawberry one. If you haven't experienced this bakery, I highly recommend you go.

Love the cake!

Bought a fruit baket for my son's first birthday and the filling and cake was fresh and moist! The fruit and lemon filling was so perfect. The decoration was gorgeous!

There cake beats out any store bakery or any other baker!

Thanks, David!

I used Brioche for my wedding cake. I have to tell you that we had plenty for everyone, but not a single piece made it back to the house for the after-party. It was delicious!!

David and Noel (owners and bakers at Brioche) give a first class service with both their cakes and pastries as well as their customer service. They recognize us when we walk through the door and call us by name.

When it came to the wedding cake, we gave David carte blanche to work his magic. With only giving him the colors of the wedding and the flavors of cake we wished to use, he created the perfect cake for us. I couldnt have been happier.

We have ordered more from them since our wedding and it has all been met with oohs and ahhs and YUMs!!

Try the cappucino cup. You will fall in love.

Hello!

These cakes are delicious and very different!

I first got a taste at a birthday party, I believe it was a coffee crunch. My sister order it for her son!

Second at my cousin Daniel's wedding it was a white cake with pineapple filling! Again, it was moist, very tasteful with tons of flavor and very beautiful.
The bakers are very artisic and unique!

I plan to order from them for birthdays and other occasions! A new bakery to try out! Don't miss out!

I didn't know they were out of business...I just tried to call the SLP location and got no answer. It is the same people. The SLP location really went downhill (at least in terms of selection) when the 56th St location opened. So maybe they have decided to close the SLP shop? Anyway, I became annoyed with them when the original location stopped carrying "bread" and told me to go to the 56th Street store for it. If you know where the SLP location is, the 56th Street location is not exactly convenient.

The Brioche in East Sac just closed their doors 2 weeks ago; no explanation given and they are still tied to their lease (I get my mani/pedi next door and I got the skinny from the owner). I was wondering if their other location in the south area is still open and judging from the posts, they obviously are. What baffled us was the fact that since the new location opened, it has been packed; both for breakfast AND lunch. Not only are the baked goods and pastries sublime, but their savory items were extremely tasty as well. Having grown up and lived in that 'hood, I'm convinced that particular location is jinxed; so many good restaurants and delis have come and gone there. When I was next door last week, no fewer than 3 people in a 10 minute time period came in to inquire as to why they were closed as they were going there for lunch. What a shame.
