Dinner in downtown DC

My daughter and I will be in DC this weekend and we're looking for a place for dinner. We're staying at the Mayflower and would like to be able to walk to the restaurant. We like all kinds of food and I'd like to keep the total to around $100.

How about Equinox? Just around the corner from your hotel and they do great things with the summer produce around here. http://equinoxrestaurant.com/

Friday night I'm by myself, would this be a good place to go alone?

Definitely. I have eaten there alone. The bartenders aren't always particularly talkative but they will definitely talk to you. The bar area is somewhat isolated from the dining room so you won't feel funny. It does get a bit of a happy hour crowd on Fridays, though. If you are there by 6, you should be fine

Equinox is wonderful but keeping the tab to $100 is going to be a stretch unless you just order 2 entrees and nothing else.

I would recommend Tabard Inn, right near your hotel. Definitely make a reservation and try to request a table in the outside courtyard which is lovely.

Other options not far from your hotel (either a 10-15 minute walk or a short cab ride) would be Lincoln, Hank's Oyster Bar or Urbana. All good choices.

I like Pesce a few blocks away off of Dupont Circle. Nice seafood and slightly upscale but certainly not stuffy.
