Epic Amazing Birthday This Friday... Help!!
My birthday is this Friday, and although it's last minute, I'd like to find somewhere perfect to go with my boyfriend and best friend. I'm big on ambiance and would love to eat on the water at sunset, but would be open to other types of awesome ambiance like a killer city view or a Moroccan tent kind of feel. I love kitch and historical restaurants too.
We're all in our mid 20's, foodies, and my friend is gluten free. I like all types and ethnicities of food, but am not crazy adventurous. (Like at Saddle Peak Lodge I probably wouldn't order the elk and rabbit.) I'd like to drink too, so it would be nice to find somewhere where drinks aren't $15 a pop.
Also, I'd like to keep it in the more budget friendly range, If possible. Maybe, $50 a person and below. This seems to be the biggest challenge of them all. This could be slightly stretched for the perfect place.
Last year I went to Susan Feniger's Street, and although the food was good, the service was terrible and practically ruined the whole night. Help me out, Chowhounders!

A drink at the Penthouse atop the Huntley Hotel (2nd Street a block above Wilshire) for the panoramic sunset views up and down the coast. Then dinner at Chinois on Main. For your budget, stick with the smaller plates (they are almost as big as the large) and share the whole deepfried catfish in ponzu or the sliced filet in szechwan sauce. For three people, three small plates and one large should be enough food, especially with a dessert or two. Everything at Chinois is served to share, the decor and atmosphere is very festive, and it is Puck's oldest restaurant still in its original form. There are a couple of bars on Main for drinks after that aren't horribly pricy -- one hidden in a sort of basement(?)...

Eveleigh on Sunset in West Hollywood has a great vibe, view, bar and creative small plate menu. Sounds like what you are looking for.
