boozy fun bbq spot in Dallas / Ft Worth?

i'll be in dallas with about 10 friends for the Michigan-Alabama game over labor day weekend. rather than tailgating in the parking lot for 8 hours, we're trying to figure out a good place for some solid dallas bbq with a boozy, fun atmosphere before heading to the stadium. willing to travel anywhere in the dallas / ft worth area (rather than finding someplace local around the stadium).

thanks!

If I had to choose between Lockhart and Woodshed, I would go with Woodshed. Have been to both and Woodshed probably has more of the boozy atmoshphere your looking for. Plus it is a fun place, the dining room is outdoors, there is no inside seating.

I'd recommend Hard 8 in Coppell. It can be very good (it's hit and miss but even on the bad days it's better than the vast majority of options around here) and definitely a fun boozy atmosphere.

Understanding there are fundamental differences between TX and AL BBQ and understanding there is precious little good, solid BBQ in Dallas, either of the 2 places mentioned above will offer the boozy side of your request.

I think Woodshed would be much more fun as it's huge and outdoors on the bank of the Trinity River, BUT it's the other side of downtown FW, quite a distance from Arlington. Lockheart on the otherhand is in trendy Bishop Arts and really close to the game.

Hopefully you'll have a designated driver cause the cops will be out in force that weekend.

You probabaly won't find what you're looking for in Arlington, but might consider Tim Love's new BBQ joint in Fort Worth, the Woodshed, very good food, live music, lively crowds. 20 minute drive to Arlington.

Or try the Katy Trail Ice House in Dallas, food is pretty good, great beers, and you're likely to run into alumni there as well. It will definitely be crowded. 30 minute drive to Arlington.

If the BBQ is more important than the good time, check out Lockhart in Oak Cliff. They've got a full bar and the TV's will be on the games. It's as good a BBQ joint you'll find in this town.

Forget about driving to Dallas and back from Arlington, it's usually nightmare. I know, we live in Arlington.

Go to Tim Love's Woodshed Smokehouse in Ft Worth. About 20 min drive from Arlington on I-30, exit University, couple of miles on your right. You may want to check out the huge smoke beef shank. With trimmings for four is $75...delicious and an unforgettable experience! Just make sure you have reservations well ahead. This place is probably the most popular eating joint in the Metroplex. You can make reservations here: http://www.woodshedsmokehouse.com/MEN... also, check out the menu and video with Tim Love.
