Looking for - Castelvetrano Olives

000waffles000 Aug 13, 2012 05:49 PM

I tried castelvetrano olives recently in San Francisco and they are amazing. Despite never having liked an olive in my life, I loved these. They are a green olive with a kind of buttery taste that was very mild and not typically olive-y.

I've tried to find them here (so far just in Oakville) at fancy Italian grocery stores, but no luck. Has anyone found these or even heard of them here? They were fairly popular in California (I saw them at a number of restaurants) but seem to be relatively unknown here. It looks like I might be able to order them (2.5 kilos at a time) online, but I'd prefer a smaller jar.

I love them too. You can get them at a number of vendors at the St. Lawrence Market.

They are yummy. I had to google the name though to realize which they were.

Naturally Summerhill Market carries them in their deli section. You can get as many or as little as you like.
