romantic meal THIS THURSDAY!

Hello fellow foodies,
I am heading to Chicago for one night only and want to enjoy a romantic meal with my husband. Of course we want great food, a view would be ideal. I have reservations at North Pond. It looks a little to swanky. We really want a great view...and great food. Another option is a great place for a drink and some heavy appetizers? We are staying downtown, so close to Water Tower is great. We don't mind noise/music for drinks...

Depending on timing, try to get to the rooftop lounge at the Trump Hotel by 9:30. You'll be rewarded with a perfect view of the Navy Pier fireworks and a wonderful view of the city.

Stick with North Pond! It has a great view and great food, and I don't know what you mean by "too swanky" (it's not jacket-and-tie, if that's what you mean - business casual is just fine).

Before you go to dinner at North Pond, go to the Signature Room at the top of the John Hancock Center for a drink.

I second nsxtasy. My wife and I have enjoyed a number of meals at North Pond and have never been disappointed. The location is great although parking can be a problem and the food is outstanding.

Third. The location alone is great, but the building is beautfiul and you will not find another restaurant like it in terms of overall ambiance in a classic setting. This dining experience is unique in Chicago, it's not stuffy and the food/service are great.
