Buttermilk Pancakes in Fresno/Clovis

mrsmegawatt Aug 11, 2012 09:24 PM

Hi Fresno/Clovis Friends.

I'm on a search for great pancakes....light, fluffy, buttermilk, perfectly grilled. I'm not talking IHOP where you can pick it up whole and it doesn't bend. I'm looking for light and fluffy with the nice grill crispiness. Hard to explain. So I had built up in my head that I would find them at Batter Up. They were good...better than a lot of places but really not great! Sorry Batter Up...just my opinion. Everyone else there seemed to like them. Any suggestions?

That would have been my first thought also. Maybe try the Dam Diner up in Friant?

Have you tried the Train Depot? While I've never found the breakfast place of my dreams here, the Train Depot is good for what it is, which is a diner/country cafe-style place. Kids love the trains which run around the restaurant. I have not been to Batter Up, so I can't say how they compare, but I did not care for the Fresno Breakfast House when we went years ago (a FWIW comparison).

Not a lot to choose from in Fresno for breakfast. Now in Kingburg there's the Dala Horse for fabulous Swedish Pancakes (crepes) but their oatmeal pancakes are leaden.
