Oh, and Silver Skillet for breakfast, but not on Sunday.

Sounds great Dim Sum is perfect, and Silver Skillet was on my radar, will definitely try that one as well....any other suggestions peeps? Will have to look into Empire State as well

      2. If traveling is no problem, I would go to Gu's Bistro on Buford Highway. Probably the best Chinese in the city.

Other spots to look at would be Leons, Cakes and Ale, and The Iberian Pig in Decatur.

Similar to Empire State South are 4th & Swift, JCT Kitchen and Local 3.

For BBQ, I would go to Heirloom BBQ, Community Q or Fox Brothers in that order of preference. Additionally, if people suggest Fat Matt's, hit them with something and run....they do not know what good BBQ is and it is not good at Fat Matt's. Something, regrettably, that most tourists and a lot of Atlantans do not understand.

Hope this helps and if I think of more, I will post them.

If it's good to them, isn't it good?

I always thought the term "good", with relation to food, was subjective.

There is nothing subjective about what I was saying. Fat Matt's does not smoke their ribs but boils them instead and finishes them over direct heat by slathering on BBQ sauce. There is no smoke, only sweet sauce and tons of grease. BBQ, by definition, requires low and slow cooking through either direct or indirect heat with smoke. So, yes, Fat Matt's is not good BBQ. People might enjoy the food, something I do not hold against them as the sauce is tasty but the BBQ itself is awful.

Sam Thanks for the rec's Yeah I heard that about Fat Matt's and I agree....there should be no boiling involved in good BBQ.. iberian pig sounds crazy good also.. I am able to travel, and very willing to do so for good food.

As travel is no problem, I would go to Gu's, The Iberian Pig and Community Q or Heirloom BBQ. Also be sure to hit up the Silver Skillet for breakfast and the West Egg. If your in town on Sunday, brunch at Local 3 or Murphy's. I prefer Local 3 but Murphy's is the old school standard.

The Iberian Pig is very good. If you go, be sure to order the Huevos Con Trufa, the pork cheek tacos, the tocino con manzana, and the iberian ham.

Also, if you enjoy beer, The Brickstore is right on the square as well. Around 400+ beer selections primarily from Belgium. It is my favorite bar/pub hangout in the city.

                Hope this helps.
