Feedback on Venice,Florence, and Rome Italy restaurants
I will be visiting Italy this fall with my husband and have gotten recs on the following places in Venice, Florence and Rome-does anyone have recent feedback on any of the places on my list. We like great food, nice decor but no jackets required, and unstuffy waiters!
Venice- l'osteria di Santa marina , The Cip at Cipriiani hotel
Florence-vivi e vecchi sapori
Rome-hosteria Romano, Maccheroni

Vence:
Osteria di Santa Marina: excellent Venetian food with a little creativity; good professional service; comfortable with a few outside tables on a small campo. Expensive but worth it.
Cip's Club: have not eaten there but have at their more formal Fortuny; decor is a large patio in front of the Cipriani property with a killer view of Venice proper. The food? its the Cipriani, luxury hotel dining; not bad at the Fortuny but I wasn't paying. the food is Venetian. They will pick you up at San Marco with their private taxi and return also. My take: good if one wants to eat at the Cipriani, want a great view and not counting euros.

Venice: If you like relaxed atmosphere, then I'd definitely avoid The Cip.
Florence: Yes, to Vini e Vecchi Sapori.
Rome: I'm not sure which restaurant you mean by Osteria Romano. Maccheroni is not so good. I know it's popular with Americans for some reason, but it's just not very good. Besides the food being unintersting, the crowd is loud and touristy.
I'd suggest you search these boards for discussions of favorites in each of these cities. There are loads of suggestions.
