Chain stores "cheese"burgers?

How can all the chains call their burgers "cheese"burgers made with American cheese when so-called "American" cheese cannot be labeled as cheese by law? Just a thought...

Also a heads up. My husband abhors American Cheese most if not all of them will sub out the cheese for cheddar, his favorite, or any other cheese they have. Some charge a small fee, 25 cents or so others don't.

I think the reasons they use american cheese is because it's a quick melter and it's cheap but don't be afraid to ask for a different type of cheese.

I think everyone understands that a "cheeseburger" is often made with American or similar cheese, so there's no need to regulate that. Besides, "processed cheese food burger" just doesn't have the same ring to it.
