Private Space for Night Out without the Open Bar

Hello all. First time posting and hoping for a bit of help. My wife and a friend of hers will be celebrating their 30th birthdays together. They want to basically do a regular Saturday night out at a lounge or bar with friends, but would like the chance to reserve a room or some space. However, we're not looking to do an open bar or private dining. We'll probably order some food or appetizers a la carte, but really just looking for a fun place to hang out with friends, but with the ability to reserve some space.

Looking for something in Manhattan, preferably not in midtown. Not something dive bar like. We went to someone else birthday at Traffic and enjoyed it, maybe something like that.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!
