Mirangela Aug 7, 2012 04:50 PM

Will be in the Italian market area for a gno dinner and was wondering if there were any good places within walking distance of 9th and Christian for a post dinner cocktail/coffee & dessert.

Thanks for your help!

i really like chick's at 7th and kater (right off of south). been a few months since ive been, but i remember the cocktails being excellent. lot of very classic stuff- i especially enjoyed my sazerac

there's also tapestry in the old adsum space- large beer list too and more cocktails than chick's- and southwark on 4th and bainbridge- i believe southwark is the only one among these three that serves desserts, but i dont know how good they are

beau monde at 6th and bainbridge would be a good choice for some dessert crepes and coffee.

Beau Monde has a bar and makes cocktails too. Never had them though. Southwark's dessert selection is small but they are very good. The cocktails are exceptional.

None of these places are closer than a 10 minute walk unfortunately. There are some closer bars but none are a very good place for coffee and dessert. You might just want to take a cab.

ISOT -- have you been to Chick's since it changed concepts to "Chick's Social" a few months ago? Based on the online menu, the cocktail program looks a little bit scaled back but when I peeked in a few weeks ago, I saw the same bartender that has been there for a while now so I suspect they are still pretty good. The food menu is totally overhauled.

i have not been back to chick's since it changed concepts but want to- some of my friends have been recently (like in the past few weeks) and report that it's still good

      Next month?

      Looks like it's temporarily closed.

I came in to recommend La Golosa for coffee and treats. Didn't know it was closed until Sept. though.

Yes, or at least it was a year ago when I went last. Maybe something will change when they re-open.

Thanks everyone! La Golosa would have been a perfect dessert option. Bummed that it's closed. Will try to check it out another time.

There's 10 of us so easily jumping in the cab might be tough. If it's a nice evening, I'm sure we'd enjoy a short walk :)

Supper, at 9th & South, has fantastic desserts and I've always liked their cocktails (I think they partnered with Franklin and Mortgage on their drink menu).
