      <content>Buddha - I haven't been to the place I link to below, but I read something pretty good about it a year or so ago.  It probably is along the lines of what you want, but you probably ought to call them first.
 
Monroe's Cafe (formerly the Aswan Cafe) on 7404 University in La Mesa has a weekend buffet with sort of a southern/cajun/African cuisine mix, but you won't see chitlins.
