Good mid-level sushi near Koenji

I'll be heading back to Tokyo in late October for a wedding, and will be in town for 1 week. I would like to treat my hosts to a good sushi meal and would like some recommendations. Here's what I'm looking for:

- I'll be based in Koenji; really hoping to find something good nearby (either within a 20 minute walk or a couple of subway stops from Koenji station).
- Budget of ¥10,000 max per person for omakase (mid-level price range) - lunch or dinner.
- I would prefer traditional Edomaezushi rather than overly sauced, "newer" style, but that's not a must.
- Friendly chef and relaxed atmosphere that is conducive to having good conversation and fun. Not looking for "you can hear a pin drop on the other side of the bar" atmosphere for this meal.

Any recommendations greatly appreciated, thank you!

Also, what fish will be in season in late October?

  1. Sushi Namba seems to be the one that will correspond to your choice. It is difficult to reserve, so I did not have the chance yet when I am in that east area of Tokyo. The diner omakase is at 10500yens, and it is located in Asagaya.

      Many thanks for the information, Ninisix. Would you happen to have an address and phone number for Namba?

      Also, has anyone heard of Shichifukujin in Koenji? Supposed to be great quality sushi at very affordable prices. Would love some feedback on this spot.

        Here the links of sushi Namba ;
        Address is Suginami-ku, Asagaya 3-44-4 B1F (2-3mn from Asagaya station)- Phone number is 03-3391-3118
        Here the link of sushi Shichifukujin
        With this links, there is no much to say, except that sushi Namba is famous top sushi for many years... This is the reason (even) I have heard about it!! The chef seems easy going... I will certainly go there once - at first.
