Chow Dinner at Wakano Ura (Sacto Area)
- Bryan Harrell Sep 10, 2004 05:29 PM
Heeding the lastest "Keep Chowhound Going" memo, I'd like to organize a benefit dinner at the historic Wakano Ura Chinese-Japanese restaurant in Sacramento's remnant of J-town. Their late 1940s style sign features both "Chop Suey" and "Sukiyaki."
I am hoping we can have a dinner that blends CA-style Japanese and Chinese foods. Wakano Ura is noted for Peanut Duck, and unusual Chinese-inspired dish with certain Japanese features. The cost will be quite reasonable.
If you are interested in joining, please e-mail me directly off-list for details. The number of people who respond will help determine the type and cost of the dinner, with some portion of the cost going as a donation to Chowhound.
This event is not affiliated with Chowhound, Inc.
I'm up for it. I will email you. Wakano Ura is great, didn't know about their duck, but their tuna and unagi don are fantastically generous and fresh.
Hewn this is a very old post. Two years old in fact. It was a pretty good dinner with very little in the way of ambiance. We are setting up another get together here in Sacto but since the moderaters discourge organizing them on this site I suggest you go to sacramentofoodgroup.org to see what's happening locally.
