London good food!

Have perused the board and looking for more suggestions....

Visiting from San Francisco in September, many visits to London, but none x 7 or 8 years, and my better half has never been. Staying nr Gloucester Rd tube.
Looking for:
one special evening out (food trumps formality or tradition)...thinking a St John variation....
some truly tasty french/belgian bistro style (alas no chunnel this trip...)
Something delightful walkable from where we're staying (see above)

and, of course, GOOD choices near the landmarks my husband will want to see eg the Tower (borough market?), Westminster, St Pauls....

Thanks so much, will curate for any coming chez moi!

La Bouchée is very near. I haven't eaten there but many seem to like it. Personally, I'd hop on the Tube and eat at Bistrot Bruno Loubet. The food is delicious (I love their beetroot ravioli) and worth the trip. There's a new brasserie at Piccadilly - Brasserie Zédel. It's been written about here very recently, so you can scroll down and read about that one. Loubet is far superior.

From where you are, go to Daquise for the off-menu steak tartare among other things. Great Polish food.

Also do the Sunday buffet at Bombay Brasserie -- focus on the vegetables, they're very well made.
