Raleighwood: Never Again

Westy Aug 6, 2012 11:14 AM

Went to raleighwood for a movie adn a dinner this Saturday. I'll never go again: Food was fried, greasy. The nachos were stale and just had lettuce piled on top. Awful.

Is this idea being done any better in the area (watch a movie and have a decent dinner)? Not looking for 5 stars....but it was really feeble.

I recommend going to The Rialto. Apart from showing the best movies, they have the best (real) popcorn in town, they sell wine by the glass and they have local brews on tap. (Cash only.) Then you can stop by The Point before of after (or another Five Points hot spot) for food.

You can try the Galaxy Cinema on weekends when they have Samosas at the snack bar.

Did you really think you'd get an excellent meal in a movie theater? Get some popcorn.

Thanks for the snarky comment! Really helpful.

Actually it can be done: http://www.bigpicturetheater.info/

The key to Raleighwood is to avoid eating there and eat first (or after) at Asian Grill next door. It may look like strip mall Chinese from the outside but it's fantastic and authentic Shanghai-style food, including one of the only places in the area to get soup dumplings (Xiaolongbao).

I don't think it's being done anywhere else in the Triangle, better or worse.

The best dinner and a movie events I know of at things like the outdoor movies at the NC Museum of Art, and bring a picnic.
