I am not going to Barcelona or San Sebastien and I don't need a table at Tickets! What I am looking for is info on Almunecar, Salobrena, Nerja, Grenada, olive oil, and wine.

I will be spending a week in Alamunecar with extended family. Going to the caves in Nerja, Granada, Salobrena. Looking for moderately priced places for Spanish food and tapas. I would also like to bring some good olive oil back. Any brands to look for or maybe even go to a grove nearby? A vineyard tour in the area is also on our list. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. The web is not as helpful for this area as one would hope. Are there any tripadvisor/chowhound type sights for Spain?

Thanks

Any more ideas? I'm leaving in a few days. Thanks!

First off, thanks for the LOL!

As far as your destinations go I have no real suggestions. I was only in Grenada one night and we went tapas hopping. I can tell you that we loved El Espejo, but more because of the ambiance and friendly staff. The food, free-ish tapas, was good, but not outstanding. For the rest, I don't remember the names of the bars we went to but overall quality was rather good and prices reasonable.

As for CH/TA type sites for Spain. There's Verema which is a wine and restaurant review site.

11870 is another user driven review site. It's more like Yelp than anything else.

Another useful resource, if only to use for confirmation or comparison is the Repsol guide.

I'm sure there are others, but these are the ones I know.

EDIT: Then there's always egullet, although I find their Spain & Portugal section to be especially snooty.

You are one of a select few!

Here is a thread I began before my own visit to Granada last year...see if it helps at all:
