Camp 31 - Paris, On (BBQ)
Anyone been to Camp 31 recently?
I know there has been a lot of mention of it in threads about BBQ in general but I don't see a specific thread on it.
I am planning to make my 2nd trip there on Monday and looking for recommendations. I don't even recall what I had there last time (will have to check for a thread on here if I posted before), I think I had the ribs and something else.
In particular looking to see what sides or other dishes they do well and what to pass on.
Thanks

I was very unimpressed by Camp 31. They initially served me ribs that were horribly dried out, inedible, and I had to ask for a replacement. The new ones were still dry, but just OK. I didn't like that they tried to serve me ribs that were clearly hard and dry. I'll never go back.

We went to Camp 31 in mid-July. The ribs were astonishing - excellent balance of smoke and sauce and porky goodness. The pulled pork was great, but hadn't been pulled very finely - there were some huge lumps. The cornbread and baked beans were worth missing to leave room for more ribs. The cole slaw was good, but nothing special. We did really enjoy the onion strings. All in all, it's worth a detour if you're in the area.

Ended up getting a 1/2 rack of side ribs with beans and corn bread as sides and a 4 piece order of fried chicken with potato salad and fries.
Fried chicken was great. Really moist, etc but still my favourite is Stockyards. Still pretty good though.
We got ribs without added sauce on it. Tried a few of their sauces but find them really sweet (sugars are high on the ingredient list). Nice smokiness to ribs.
I though the potato salad was disgusting. Mainly "mayo" type dressing with tiny peices of potato.... It was worse than stuff I have had from Costco.
Beans were okay but they weren't the type of beans I normally have with BBQ.
Fries were done well and enjoyed the corn bread too.
Overall, was a good meal but for a regular fix of BBQ I will likely be heading to Memphis Fire BBQ (the one in Winona) or the food truck/trailer at Keele/St. Clair (only been once but it was tasty).

I'd go with the Fried chicken and ribs. Fried chicken is excellent, ribs are... good. Not great, but good.
