Looking for a great Chinese Restaurant "near-ish" to Radio City

Hi All,
Need to find a good chinese restaurant for small family gathering before Radio City Music Hall event. Out of towners will want dumplings and mu shu pork, locals will be a bit more adventurous.

interested in John's Shanghai--any recent recos? Other recommendations would be totally welcome too!

Thanks for any advice.

I agree, Wu Liang Ye has some terrific dishes. It is not cheap and you will need a reservation. I think their dan dan noodles are some of the best I have had in the city as well as their mapo tofu. I also love the cold tofu skins filled with shitake mushrooms and the pan seared tofu with shitake, spinach and leeks. I used to go there for lunch often, got there right at noon and sat at the bar. I have eaten at John's Shanghai several times. At John's I found you can get a table much easier as there is a second floor. The food is quite expensive for what it is but their soup dumplings are actually pretty good, the skins not too thick and the pork gravy very tasty. I love the way they stir fry Chinese broccoli with garlic but it costs about 14 dollars or so. Crazy.

Great Sichuan at Wu Liang Ye. NOT Americanized chop suey type Chinese though.
