Pho Country - Carson City

Our wanderings took us to Carson City at lunch time a few days ago and DH was craving pho. Well, the closest thing to pho you can have when you don't eat beef anyway.....I googled and read several good reviews on another site for Pho Country - didn't see any here on Chowhound so decided to give you all a quick heads up.

Pho Country is on the main drag on the northern side of town, just across the street from Bank of the West. I distinctly remember the building being a Mexican restaurant at one time, and DH swears it was an Indian place. Anyway, it has had several incarnations....

We started with vegetarian spring rolls...pretty standard but fresh tasting. Then DH had the "seafood special pho" and I had pho tai (beef). Both came with a generous side serving of the usual accompaniements (sprouts, basil leaves, jalapenos, lime, etc). DH LOVED his seafood pho, and with good reason: the seafood consisted of calamari and shrimp, and both tasted very fresh (and calamari was especially tender, always a good thing!). My pho was also good, with a tasty broth and tender thin flank steak slices.

Service was fast and friendly. I say check it out if you ever find yourself in Carson City craving pho. Lunch for two including the shared app, two phos, and one Vietnamese iced coffee was around 25 bucks, including a generous tip.

I have eaten there many times and always had a good meal. The same folks also own Pho Country 2 across from the Silver Legency in downtown Reno.
