Blitz Torte

Ruthie789 Aug 3, 2012 03:08 PM

Many years ago I had a friend(lost contact now) and her Mom used to make a mile high cake, which she called a Blitz Torte. It is now 35 years later and I still remember it. I did try to make one but it was not great. The one I liked had pineapple in it. Does anyone have a good recipe for a BLITZ TORTE?

When you're a kid, a "mile high" may have been shorter than you remember.
Do any of these look familiar?
My wife remembers learning to roller skate on a "steep hill" in front of her home in Ohio when she was a child. We visited the "old homestead" a few years ago. You couldn't get a marble to roll unassisted down than "hill".

I was eighteen so not that young! A mile high was a slight exageration but it sure was a very special cake. The cakes on the link are still not high enough...but I do thank you for posting it for me..
