Hi folks,
Does anyone know if there is a resturant in Montreal or suburbs that cooks traditional recipes of Finland? Thanks and have a great summer weekend!

Never heard of a finnish restaurant in Montreal; do we even have a Finnish immigration?

    Sorry.

(but I've been known to be wrong).

    Max.

I'm pretty certain there is no such thing in or around Montreal. You could always get in touch with this group: http://montrealfinns.tripod.com/ . Perhaps they have food related activities.

For other Fennoscandian stuff in Montreal see here: http://www.canadiannordicsociety.com/

If anyone should know - some one from this group should - I'll email them. Thanks.

The closest thing I can think of is Cafe Ellefsen, a Scandinavian cafe. I have not eaten there yet, but recently heard of its existance.

No real restaurant per se, but if you were to contact Saint Micheal's, I'm certain they would let you know when their Harvest Dinner was along with other useful information about Finnish stuff in Montreal. Information about them is here:

A Finnish-Canadian friend confirmed that she doesn't know of any specifically Finnish restaurants in Montreal, but that Saint Michael's Church also does an annual Finnish baked-goods sale you could keep an eye out for.

In case anyone is still interested in Finnish food... I noticed that there's a Finnish bazaar tomorrow - Sat. Nov. 24, 2012:

Christmas bazaar, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Finnish Church Home, 1500 Dr. Penfield Ave. Baked goods, crafts, Finnish delicacies. Light lunch.

Thanks, I was just thinking that a drive to the Fintown section of Thunder Bay was a bit far to go for my annual fix of finnish delicacies.
